Sinicization from the Qibiao Clan

The Qibiao clan, one of the twelve Gaoche groups, later adopted the phonetically similar single-character surname Biao.

Biaoshi County of Jiuquan

One branch originated from Biaoshi County in Jiuquan Commandery during the Western Han. Some residents adopted Biaoshi as a surname, which later became the compound surname Biaoshi and was then shortened to Biao.
