Most Dang branches are pronounced dǎng. The Ren-surname Que-Dang branch is pronounced zhǎng, while the Tibetan “Dang,” also called “Dong,” is pronounced dōng. The Xianbei Dang branch was not fully recorded in Northern Wei historical texts and is listed among surnames absent from the genealogical record.
