The surname is recorded in Zheng Tongzhi’s Genealogical Gazetteer. Xing shi kao lue describes it as “a branch of the Jisun clan, kin to Lu,” while Zheng Qiao, citing Xingyuan, records Gongxi Chi and Gongxi Dian.
The recorded commandery association is Dunqiu Commandery. The hall name is Dunqiu Hall, also called Qingfeng Hall.
The Gongxi lineage flourished in Lu. Its members were mainly distributed around present-day Junxian County, Henan, and were associated with Dunqiu Commandery; a small number remain in the Junxian area today.
