Origins
Main Origins
The Jing surname is associated with Ji-surname, Gui-surname, and surname-change origins. One branch descends from Ji Jingkang, a great-great-grandson of the Yellow Emperor, and took the ancestor's name as its surname. Another descends from Chen Wan, son of Duke Li of Chen in the Spring and Autumn period, whose posthumous title was Jing. In the Qing dynasty, Gou Huanan was also ordered to change his surname to Jing.
