Origins
Spring and Autumn Origin Theory
According to a statement quoted from Zuozhuan Leijie, the Spring and Autumn-period Jin grandee Xi Ke held 驹 as his fief and was called 驹伯; his son Qi was also called 驹伯, and the surname was derived from this. The source retains the uncertainty that the former city may have been in present-day Shanxi.
