Founding and Renaming of Mujia Shop Village
Mujia Shop Village was established around the third year of the Later Zhou period of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms (953). After the Mu surname settled there in the Song dynasty, it was first named Guirenli, later renamed Mujia Fort, and eventually became Mujia Shop because a small shop opened beside the main road.

Origins
Change from Murong to Mu
Mu Zuan, the great-grandfather of Mu Kang, moved here to live in seclusion while fleeing hardship in Jibei and changed the surname Murong to Mu.

Mu Kang’s Death Date in an Epitaph
An excavated epitaph records that the tomb occupant, Mu Kang, died in the fourth year of the Zhenghe era of the Song dynasty, or 1114.

Notable People
Mu Figures of the Song and Yuan Periods
The Mu clan of Mujia Shop pursued Confucian learning and office during the Song and Yuan periods. Its figures included Mu Kang, a Chaofeng Dafu of the Song; Mu Xin, a Fengyi Dafu of the Yuan; Mu Zongyi, a Chaosan Dafu of the Song; and the county magistrates Mu Zongyao and Mu Zongyuan.

Recorded Mu Lineage in Qixia
The 1848 Revised Genealogy of the Mu Clan of Qixia records that the Mu clan had come to Qixia more than 900 years earlier, with its ancestors moving to Mujia Shop west of Fangshan to escape the turmoil of the Five Dynasties.
