Before the Qin dynasty, the Pang surname was first active in the Shaanxi-Shanxi region. During the Spring and Autumn period it migrated eastward and southward; by the Warring States period it had reached Hebei and Shandong and moved south into the Central Plains, Hubei, and Hunan.
