Origins
Several origins are recorded for the Qing surname: descendants of Qingyang, descendants of Qi Taigong, descendants of Qingwuzi, a surname from the Western Xia period, and a Mongolian origin. Another account holds that descendants of Qi Taigong in the Spring and Autumn period took the surname from Qingqiu, where a fief was held.

Migration and Distribution
Migration in Shu
The founding ancestor Qing Shan is said to have lived in Nanchong. Qing families in Guangyuan, Guang'an, Suining, Dazhou, and Dayi in Sichuan, as well as Tongnan, Qijiang, and Hechuan in Chongqing, are recorded as originating from Nanchong. The proposed connection of Qing families in Hunan, Guizhou, and Yunnan to Sichuan remains to be examined.
