Genealogical records state that the first ancestor Sheng of the Haicheng Shang lineage in Liaoning moved from Hongdong, Shanxi, to Hengshui, Hebei, during the Ming dynasty, and that his son Jiguan moved to Haicheng in eastern Liaodong during the Wanli period. The founding migrant ancestor of the Shang lineage in Xuchang, Henan, was Shang Gui, who moved there during the Yuan dynasty.
