Ji-Surname Origin
The Yuewang lineage descends from Le Wangfu, a senior official of the State of Jin in the late Spring and Autumn period, and took its surname from an ancestor's name.
Descendants of Le Wangfu
Le Wangfu, of the Ji surname and courtesy name Shuyu, was a senior official of Jin in the late Spring and Autumn period. His descendants took their ancestor's name as their surname and were called the Le Wang lineage.
Later Simplification
Most of the Le Wang lineage later simplified the compound surname into the single surnames Le or Wang.
The Le Wangyi Branch
Another Le Wang branch originated from Le Wangyi in the early Han-period Yelang state and took its surname from the settlement's name. Its descendants mostly changed to the single surnames Le or Wang, and many were Miao.
