Settlement in Dengzhou During the Ming

A Sui lineage was recorded in Dengzhou, Henan, during the Ming dynasty. Suishan first lived in Lizhuang, later moved to Goulin, and eventually developed the settlement now called Dasuiying, where he is regarded as the founding ancestor of the Sui lineage.

The Sui surname is mainly distributed in Dengzhou, Nanyang, and Sheqi in Henan; Suqian, Siyang, Sishui, and Huai'an in Jiangsu; and Danjiangkou in Hubei. It is also found in Lushui, Shanxi's Jincheng and Yuncheng, Gansu's Jiuquan and Yongchang, and Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

The Jianwen Emperor Descendant Account

Another account, transmitted by ancestors, says that the Sui surname was changed from Zhu and that Suishan was Zhu Wenkui, son of the Jianwen Emperor; this account is presented as a tradition based on chronological calculation.
