Two Origin Traditions

One tradition holds that a son of Shaohao who had virtue and achievements was granted the surname during Zhuanxu's time. Another traces it to the Zi lineage, descended from Manhou, the paternal uncle of King Wuding of Shang; a further tradition names Manbo as the ancestor.
