The source page attributes two origin accounts to the works 《姓氏考略》 and 《路史》: one says that Gonggong had a minister named 浮游; the other says that the Chunqiu-period Lai state official 浮柔 fled to Tang, after which the 浮莱氏 arose and was later shortened to 浮氏.
