Origins

Main Origins

Recorded origins include an occupational designation, a star name, and an ancestor's name: descendants of the early Western Zhou wolf-signal guards could take Lang from their occupation; descendants of the Tianlang lineage could drop Tian and use Lang; descendants of Lang Shen, a chariot-right officer of Jin in the Spring and Autumn period, took the surname from his name.
