Research Notes

Genealogical Boundary

The source explicitly states that the Zi-surname 皇父氏 and 皇氏 honor Zi Chongshi as their founding ancestor and “do not share a genealogy with the Ji-surname 皇氏.” Therefore, this 皇父氏 branch should not be automatically merged with Ji-surname 皇氏, nor should all identical or similar surname forms be connected into one lineage.
