The Ji-Surname State in Texts

The New Book of Tang records that after King Wu of Zhou pacified the realm, he enfeoffed his second son at the former site of the Shang state of Yu, establishing a Ji-surname state called Yu Shu.

Spring and Autumn Records

The Shangshu Dazhuan records that King Wen of Zhou began attacking Yu in the second year of his reign. The Zuo Zhuan records that in 712 BCE King Huan of Zhou took Yu's land from Zheng.
