Jiang Lineage

The 钭 surname mainly derives from the Jiang lineage and emerged from the Lü clan through an object-based surname. After the Tian clan replaced the Qi state’s ruling house during the Warring States period, the descendants of Duke Kang of Qi took 钭 as their surname after his exile at sea.

The Zheng Tongzhi: Clan Summary records the 钭 surname with the phonetic notation “天口切” and mentions that during the Later Han of the Five Dynasties, 钭 Tao served as governor of Chuzhou. The Hanyu Da Zidian gives the pronunciation dǒu.
