She Origin

One branch of the surname originated among the She people and was associated with Chen Zheng and Chen Yuanguang, who entered Fujian during the Tang dynasty. Their descendants moved from the Minyue area to Jiankang and later branched into Wugang, Tengchong, Langzhong, and other places.

Wonu Origin

Another branch originated from the Kushiro lineage among Wonu envoys and students sent to Tang China. Some who remained in China moved to Lingnan during the late Tang and Five Dynasties to escape warfare, passing down the Chuan surname.

In the Ming dynasty, Chuan Changren, Chuan Hai, and Chuan Wengui held the titles of Wude General or hereditary qianhu. Chuan Guoxian served as judicial clerk of Fuzhou in Jiangxi, and Chuan Pei as assistant magistrate of Guiyang in Guizhou. The generation names of the Heshun Chuan clan in Yunnan are “Wen, Ben, Jia, Xiang, You, Zhu, Xing, Wang, Ding, Fa, Cheng, Gen.”
