Origins
One account says that the Dàtíng clan lived in Qufu and later produced the Fu surname, regarded as deriving from the Jiang surname. Another says that Lu had Tángfu, and that place names such as Fucheng and Fuling may have given rise to the Fu surname.

Current Distribution
The Fu surname is distributed in Yongdeng, Gansu, and in Taiyuan, Jincheng, and the Lüliang area of Shanxi. It is also found in Huainan and Mengcheng in Anhui, Jiading in Shanghai, Fengcheng in Jiangxi, Tainan in Taiwan, and Dawa in Liaoning.
