Origins

Two Origins

The Teng surname has two origins: one is attributed to descendants of the Yellow Emperor who received the surname; the other derives from the Ji surname, when King Cheng of Zhou enfeoffed Cuo Shuxiu, the fourteenth son of King Wen, at Teng, after which descendants took the state name as their surname.
