Ali / A-li
The source explicitly records Ali (ā lǐ) as a Jurchen surname from the Jin dynasty.
The source states that the Guangping Ali clan derived from a Jin-period Jurchen surname and was the Aliban clan. It says the surname still occurred in the Qing Manchu Eight Banners and identifies the wife of Lebi, a guard of the Bordered Blue Banner, as a member of the Ali clan.
The same source separately lists Ali as a Yi surname, but gives only the incomplete pronunciation note “A -” and no account of its origin; it therefore should not be merged with the Jurchen Ali surname.
The webpage says that Xu Tongzhi, Shizu Lü records the surname and names the Jin figures Ali Dangkan and Ali Fulühun. It also quotes Jin Shi, Taizong Ji concerning Ali Puluhun. These are secondary quotations on the webpage, not independently verified readings of the originals.
Zhongguo Xingshi Daquan is reported as calling Ali “historically a Xianbei surname,” but the webpage explicitly says that the basis is unknown. This attribution remains unsubstantiated and should not be presented as an established origin.
