Wang Commanderies and Clan Halls
Commanderies are historical cultural labels; clan halls identify commemorative or branch traditions. Neither alone proves kinship.
Commandery index
- The source index lists 21 traditions, including Taiyuan, Langya, Beihai, Donghai, Gaoping, Jingzhao, Tianshui, Hedong and Henan.
- Historical commandery names are not the same as modern ancestral addresses.
Major hall names
- Taiyuan Hall is listed as a general Wang hall name. Sanhuai Hall is an important hall and branch label, not a commandery.
- Other searchable hall names include Huainan, Dunben, Xiaoyou, Shide and several Huai-themed halls.
Recording rules
- Store commandery, hall name, ancestral village, settlement and migration origin in separate fields.
- A branch link also needs a migration ancestor, generation poem or original genealogy.
